Giving the boss a gift is always tricky. Don’t fret, just give them one of these 7 things.

I have heard many bosses say, "don't get me anything for the holidays." While they are being sincere, there is nothing better than seeing someone's face light up when you give a great gift, bosses included. So if you plan on giving your boss a gift this year, here are few of my favorites to fit in any range of budget.
Someone told me earlier this year "the best invention Apple has released in five years isn't a phone at all, it's their AirPods." While it took me a while to pull the trigger on a $160 pair of headphones, they have been well worth it. Incredible for listening to podcasts, audiobooks, and super convenient when traveling. I consume 5 times more audio content to help me on my professional journey than I did prior to having them. Trust me, your boss will love them.
Show your boss you know them well by finding a funny t-shirt that fits their style. This could be one of their favorite bands or you could even make a custom shirt that would have everyone laughing with the boss and not at them.
There have been many studies done to determine if listening to music in the background while working improves productivity and there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. I think it absolutely helps and a Spotify account is a perfect way to give this gift to your boss.
LinkedIn Premium Account
Every leader needs to be constantly evaluating talent and at the same time develop their skills. LinkedIn has become the place to do both of those things. A premium account comes with all kinds of goodies like LinkedIn learning, and being able to send InMails. If for no other reason, it will help your boss take their personal branding to the next level, which is something we all need.
If there is one thing I know for sure, it's that leadership is a journey and not a destination. Open up that Amazon account and find a couple leadership books that you think your boss would like. You can't go wrong with books like; 5 Dysfunctions of a Team by Pat Lencioni, The Power of Positive Leadership by Jon Gordon, Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek, or Extreme Ownership by Jacko Willink.
The least expensive of all, but easily the most important. Anyone, whether they admit it or not, loves to hear how their work and effort has impacted someone else's life in a positive way. If your boss has made a positive impact on your career, sit down and tell them in a handwritten letter.
The podcasting world blew up in 2017 and with that rapid expansion, it has brought about the opportunity be interviewed on someone's podcast. Most leaders would love the opportunity to tell their story and share lessons learned. If this is something your boss would be into, do a little homework on a show that might be a good fit and see if you can make the interview happen by emailing the podcast host.
ClassPass or Gym Membership
Tread lightly on this one because no one wants to be called fat or out of shape. Having said that, most bosses don't make the time to take care of themselves physically. Purchasing a class pass or gym membership might be the perfect way to get them back in the gym. (Special Note: If my team reads this I would love an Orange Theory Monthly membership!)
Last but not least. What bosses really want is performance. Business is a performance game and the best gift you can give is to perform to the very best of your abilities. I don't know a boss in the country who wouldn't appreciate a little extra effort and better performance when they least expect it (holiday time.)
