This 1 Daily Habit Will Keep You Accountable For All Of Your Other Goals

Breaking habits are hard, and starting new ones can be even harder. When you're on the strenuous and adventurous path of success and determination, shedding old habits and creating new ones are a necessary part of the journey.

Knowing where to start can sometimes seem impossible. But what if there was one habit that you could start today, that would positively shape all of your other habits?

I've been molding and shaping myself for years. I'm a doer, a grower, I'm the type of person who thrives off of going out of my comfort zone. And I've learned a lot about myself in the process, I've also learned a lot about habit creating.

I've noticed that there is one thing everyone, and I mean everyone, can work on. There's an overarching piece of advice that applies to all of us.

Keep the promises you make to yourself.

I know it sounds simple, but it's a lot easier said than done. When you say you're going to go to the gym, go. When you say you'll go to bed on time, do it. And when you promise yourself you'll meet the your deadlines, meet them.

This overarching habit applies to your health, wealth and your success.

Success means many different things to many different people, but to be successful in your own right you have to follow through with the actions you set out on.

It can be so hard to motivate yourself to fold that pile of laundry, or go to the gym, or read that book after a long day at work. But keeping those promises to yourself teaches you something bigger. And it can completely shape the way you view yourself and the world.

Holding yourself accountable does two things. First, it teaches you to make doable promises to yourself.

A lot of people struggle with completing their goals, and it's normally because they spread themselves too thin. Or because they don't have enough time to complete the task at hand, and instead of completing it, they stress about not having the time to complete it.

It's a vicious cycle, but I'm here to tell you that you have the power to stop it.

By holding yourself accountable, and by making it a priority to actually complete your to-do list, you learn how to make an efficient to-do list. You learn how to create challenging yet obtainable goals. And you start to learn how to be the version of yourself that you want to be, one step at a time.

It starts with keeping the promises you make to yourself.

Doing this can also teach you want you need, and how to create the balance you crave in your life.

Second, it teaches you to trust yourself.

Think about it, when you continue to make goals and not reach them, you create that habit. You create a story in your mind that tells you that when you start something, you probably won't finish it. Before you've even embarked on the journey, your mind has started to sabotage your progress with doubts.

Keeping promises to yourself teaches you that you can rely on yourself. It also teaches others they can rely on you.

When you let yourself miss opportunities, or stop yourself from reaching goals, you start to loose integrity in yourself. When you start to follow through with the habits you create yourself, you continue to promote that kind of behavior.

It all starts with learning to keep promises with yourself. Start checking off all the action items on your to-do list. This one habit will positively reinforce all other habits, and help you reach the goals you want to.
